Dr. Rula specializes in women’s health issues and is one of the few physicians in the greater Phoenix area practicing a truly comprehensive approach to medicine. She combines the best of science based practice from conventional and alternative medicine to address not only a woman’s hormonal health but her overall wellness which includes heart health, bone and breast health, digestion, and mental health. She looks for the underlying cause of an illness and corrects imbalances through a Functional Medicine model which addresses the biochemistry, genetics and environmental health of an individual. After completing her fellowship in Integrative Medicine, Dr. Rula went on to train in acupuncture through the Helms UCLA Acupuncture program and Functional Medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine. She continues to further her knowledge with advanced programs in Functional Medicine and acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, natural therapies for women’s health. Dr. Rula was drawn to pursue her studies in Integrative Medicine by her experience taking care of patients in a conventional medicine practice as well as her experience caring for her mother with terminal cancer. From these experiences she concluded that the current health care system was very disease focused and does not adequately address the health and wellness of a patient. She found that Integrative Medicine would give her a different framework to care for patients that was very individualized and addressed the uniqueness of each person. As a result of her expertise, colleague recognition and patient satisfaction, Dr. Rula is a highly sought after physician for women and their health issues. Dr. Rula is married and has two school-aged children. She is a runner and enjoys outdoor activities and stays busy raising her children. |
